Mbegu are a true grass-roots startup that was formed with the help of Cleantech Scandinavia´s Impact Venture Builder Program and has since made progress in leaps and bounds. The mobile solar charging stations operate in public buildings, such as schools or hospitals (currently the focus is on Africa). The stations provide inexpensive, safe, and widely available charging opportunities for mobile devices, enabling the owner to generate income, is automated, GSM-equipped and remotely connected to a payment service. The technology helps to fill a development gap for a 1 billion people market and can be the foundation for further solar PV tech integration into other societally-important systems.
